Yes, I'm a noob. I have a ubuntu server 12.04 and ubuntu desktop 13.04. So, what im trying to do is copy and paste between using the remote desktop viewer. Can anybody help me accomplish this? the paste feature in the viewer is blacked out.

What exactly you are doing? I have my server running ubuntu 12.04.03LTS server, and a laptop running Ubuntu 13.10 with LXDE.
I access server from laptop throught terminal using SSH, and can paste anything I copied using right mouse button - no problem.
Just tried to connect to server (to VNC server) through Remote Desktop Viewer, copy/paste (from laptop to terminal running in Remote Desktop Viewer) works fine as well.
