I first heard about this project a couple of weeks ago http://www.raspberrypi.org/
It looks very interesting as I am hopeful the board could be used as the base for a media player as it has all the correct ports.
Not sure what software could be used for this purpose, something Linux based or maybe more of a firmware/dashboard something similar to X360, PS3 or XBMC.
And best of all the Raspberry Pi has been developed in the UK.
When the board goes on sale it will about $35 or £21-£22 depending on exchange rates.

Re: Raspberry Pi
Looks interesting, never heard of them before. I'll have to get my thinking cap on as to what it could be used for.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Raspberry Pi
That is pretty cool.
Re: Raspberry Pi
From what I can make out these should be able to run XBMC-Live, not sure with them only having 256MB of RAM, although I guess that could be doubled with the use of a swap file.
I may take a punt on one when they are released.

Re: Raspberry Pi
The good folks over at Raspberrypi have put 10 numbered beta boards on eBay as a way of making a little extra cash, don't forget Raspberrypi is a charity.
Now the idea is that some people collect such things, pre-production and such like.
Here is a link to the auction for board #10 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180786734741?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649#ht_500wt_1413

Re: Raspberry Pi
My favourite is the twitter comment that someone should bid £3141.59 for it.

Be patient with this link it takes a while to load, well at least it does for me, if XBMC works on the Pi it will solve a lot of problems for me.

Re: Raspberry Pi
Yeah, that's definatly a thread I need to keep an eye on.
A Raspberry Pi, a media remote and we are good to go.

Re: Raspberry Pi
I really can't wait to get my hands on a Raspi, it has been said that they are to produce cases for the Raspi.
