I was thinking of setting up as RaspPi VM to play with while I wait.
I've never used XBMC which seems to be the front end of choice at the moment. Have you had any experience? Is it just a matter of pointing it to my media files on the server?

Yup that is pretty much it, although when my XBMC box was going through it's evolution process (AMD based) I had to use upnp on the XBMC box to access my files, my latest build (Intel based) just connects to the server to feed it's hunger for media. Not sure why this happened but all is good now.

I have not had any experience with the R-Pi, gonna wait and see how it pan's out regarding XBMC. I still want an R-Pi for other stuff though.

Hope this helps....

Hi n2o2diver

You must have been up at the crack to get through the carnage. I think I'll wait until the production snags are sorted I think before I make my purchase. The longer I wait though the more I can find homes for, I'm up to four now. It's as well they are cheap. lol

Check out the latest video over at http://www.raspberrypi.org/

OpenELEC has been ported for the Pi and I must say that this looks very interesting for a cheap media centre device.

And also the model A has it's RAM doubled to 256MB.

These thing's are going to be everywhere in the not too distant future.
