Configure NFS Client - config file

Post by 2dinners »

Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate some help.

I'm running Precise Pangolin 12.04 which is host to a virtual machine also running PP 12.04. I've set up the host as the NFS Server and I'm trying to configure the virtual machine as an NFS Client.

The tutorial tells me to go into the config file and edit the following 3 lines..

NEED_STATD=
NEED_IDMAPD=
NEED_GSSD=

However, I'm missing the middle line - NEED_IDMAPD= - mine looks like this....

NEED_STATD=
STATDOPTS=
NEED_GSSD=

Any indication of where I might be going wrong or how to configure it would be a big help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there and welcome to the forums

I've not tested that particular guide on 12.04. What happens when you manually add that line to the config file. Does it not work?

Ian.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have tried adding the - NEED_IDMAPD=yes - line to the config file. I can now see the test folder in my home directory from the virtual machine.
However, I've got 2 more (ntfs) hdd's in the machine which I can access from elsewhere on the network through samba but I'm not able to access through nfs.

Apologies if I'm a little vague, I started using Linux less than a week ago.
