Mediatomb transcoding; help!

Hello again. I installed Mediatomb on my Ubuntu 13.x server and, for the most part, am happy with it. I've read re: how to enable transcoding "on the fly" as people like to say using Mediatomb. It's gibberish (to me). If you have the time and inclination a simplified how-to on Mediatomb transcoding would be excellent. Just a thought.
