Synaptic package manager password

I ran across something odd, and am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue.
When I try to start my synaptic package manager in VNC, it asks for my password.
Ok, I know my password, I insert it, and I get an error saying incorrect password.

Any idea what my problem may be?

Hi helixhamin and welcome to the forums.

You didn't mention in your post but I suspect you're using Ubuntu 11.04. The issue you're seeing is a bug (or maybe it's a feature?). Either way, to solve it try the following:

In VNC go to Applications->Accessories->Terminal

Type the following command in the Terminal

Code: Select all

gksu-properties

Then change the Authentication Mode to sudo and click close.

Hope this helps.

Ian.

Yes, that fixed it. Thank you.
