Everything went well and I have gotten rid of the duplicates in my MusicIP gui and headless . After a complete scan Squeezebox shows the MusicIP import at 21197 whereas MusicIP iteslf reports 17,529 mixable tracks (which I believe is correct. I didn't delete the var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache file which may be the reason. On the whole I am satisfied that it is working and I am able to make mixes.
On a separate note I got Squeezeplay working. I had tried compiling Squeezeplay for Ubuntu 12.04 but I kept getting errors in the terminal so I gave up.Last night I came accross a thread on the Ubuntu forums that suggested running Squeezeplay (windows version) under WINE and it turned out to be dead simple and I am listening to tunes right now on the computer through Squeezeplay.
