Re: Network Bragging.....

I will highlight what I'm hoping to achieve and any feedback on costs and how to go about doing it would be greatly appreciated. I'm with virgin who will so...

Re: Network Bragging.....
It certainly makes sense to "do things right" in a new house, especially a large one (with basement, upper floors etc.). OTOH, if you're only running a few short stretches between rooms after the fact, you can often get away with run-o-the-mill cat5 and eschew the significant cat6 markup....

Re: The "introduce yourself" thread
@Moridiin I used fiber in my house and tbh if you dont know what your doing with it, you can end up causing serious injury to yourself nevermind the cost of fiber these days. If I were you I would stick to Cat 6e as cat 6 will supply you with enough bandwidth run run almost anything you need in your...

Re: Server will not restart after installing Ubuntu
Hi there I had a similar problem building my media server. By the sounds of it, your server is still looking to boot of your memory stick even though it isnt there, either that or its looking for something to boot altogether, but if this was the case you would have received an error stating 'no boo-...

A New Era in Storage
Hi all, Just a quick up to date As you all know Solid State Drives (SSD's) are out there and they are growing in size almost everyday. There has been reports of a 35TB Raid set up all in one PCI-E card. Its almost scary what you can get now, but SSD's are served with a fatal flaw, the fact that they...

Re: Slight Problem with Networking
I got them through work, we are currently using 6TB Western Digital HDD in our NVR's now but they are far too expensive to get at the moment for myself. The 3.5TB drives are on enterprise edition but due to the WD factory flooding in the east they have become highly expensive and rare due to the fac...
