Re: Ubuntuserver crashes while copying data to it
well, again, I don't now know how you're copying files; drag-and-drop; rsync; etc. there are, of course, error logs for the ubuntu server which might say why it crashed; IDK. if the ubuntu server is on old hardware - ie small ram and slower cpu - it might be overloaded. I suggest trying to rsync a f...

Re: Ubuntuserver crashes while copying data to it
I know nothing about Synology NAS devices. However, it seems they might run a version of Linux. If so, the easiest/fastest thing to do might be to use the rsync command - which will sync all the files from your Synology NAS to your Ubuntu box. This link is about how to copy to a Synology NAS using r...

Re: Ubuntuserver crashes while copying data to it
If you are copying over a network - especially via a wireless connection at any point - 10Gb is a lot of data... as you know. How are you copying files? If you are dragging-and-dropping .. yeah... that's gonna crash. Are you perchance copying via a command line utility? And what are you copying from...

Re: MusicIP and Logitechmediaserver
Last week I installed Ubuntu live media server 18.04 LTS as a headless server; installed MusicIP and followed instructions on this site to make MusicIP start before LMS. And it works. So . . . My problem is I cannot find the m3lib database. But everything works fine. Also, I set MusicIP to rescan/up...

Re: MusicIP and Logitechmediaserver
Hi. Don't know if you're running a headless server. I had trouble changing the boot sequence via the command line as well in earlier versions of Ubuntu server. Eventually, I found a program that allowed me to do this - but it has a GUI. Sadly, I can't recall the name and if it runs only with a GUI. ...

Re: Logitechmediaserver installation : debian repository is gone
Hi. Yes, many things on this site are out-of-date. I use a nightly build - a beta version - LMS. You can view some here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 This is obviously for version 7.9. If you want a different version choose from one: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/ Wha...

how to build a low-budget, energy efficient media server
I want to build a low-power server. I learned from a recent vacation that my computers eat up a lot more electricity than I thought. I have an Ubuntu media server - I used this site several years ago to help build it. It has six drives, not counting the solid state drive with the OS. I have the driv...
