Re: problem with mythtv setup

Thanks Ian

Expected there would be a simple solution. Unfortunately it seems the power supply of my server has died (at least I hope its not the mobo) so I have yet to replace it to put things right. I'll let you know if it works when I get round to putting an old psu into the server.

cheers

problem with mythtv setup

Hi been a while since I've posted, but I've encountered a problem setting up mythtv, and hopefully someone knows what I'm doing wrong to correct me. I expect it's something really simple, but I'm banging my head off a brick wall at present. I've done a fresh install of 12.04 and have made my first a...

Getting server to hibernate

Hi My server acts as a media streamer and as such only gets used a handful of times every month; to this end I'd rather not leave it on permanently, but at the same time I also don't want to be bothered with physically turning the thing on and off. I have wake on lan functioning to turn the server o...

Re: Video organizer/tagger/streamer

Plex is another option. Plex is very similar to XBMC (I believe its origins lie in developing XMBC for the Mac platform). I choose Plex over XMBC simply because there is a plex app that can be installed on samsung 'internet' bluray players and TVs, allowing me to stream to devices I already had at h...

Re: SATA 3 woes

Sure the card I bought is here: m I have made progress with this card, but have not yet got things fully working (due to my lack of technical know how). The raid card above is based on the SI3114 chipset, and allegedly can do RAID 0,1,5,10, JBOD/Concatenation or simply act as additional SATA ports. ...

SATA 3 woes

Hi So, I recycled an old/ unused pc to be my server. All appeared to go well. Have set up OS on a CF card (slow, but works fine, and is silent). Set up trial data drives using small SATA drives - all ok. Ordered a new 2 tb drive with the intention of installing into server, and copying files from 2t...

changing directory permissions

Hi I've just added a new 2TB drive that I will use to store films etc. I have successfully formatted and mounted the drive as /media (the media directory now indicates that it is 1.7TB in size), however permissions are set to 'root' and I as a user cannot create new folders etc to migrate my data to...

Re: About the FlexRAID pages in the Howto...

Hi Ian No need to apologise what so ever - I am extremely grateful for your efforts and willingness to help. The changes you suggested seem to have worked - I can open the web interface. I've not yet attempted the configuration as I've not yet installed all the drives I wish to include - I'll probab...
