Spin down idle drives in Ubuntu Server
Your example sets 20 minutes but the description says it is 30 minutes. Thanks for the excellent guide. I used it years ago, and I still refer back to it.

Re: Scheduling flexRAID
OMG, there is an Active check box at the top of the email settings that I missed. That should solve my problem.

Re: Scheduling flexRAID
Thanks again! I see the 100% complete; I am not sure how I missed it. I think my eyes were drawn to the process started message. I have my schedule set to update every morning at 3:00 am. I have email configured and tested. I have boxes checked to send email for all failed and successful tasks, but ...

Scheduling flexRAID
I miss the status report in the old flexRAID. When I created a parity disk it reported a % complete. Version 2.0 just says the process started and I have never seen it report finished. I still think my flexRAID is setup, but I don't know how to tell. The data files were created on the parity disk. U...

Re: What's the benefit of building your own media server?
I build computers as a hobby so building an Ubuntu Server was fun for me. I test embedded software running on Linux at work so building an Ubuntu Server was educational for me. I already had two Windows HTPCs, so centralizing my media was a good idea. Linux runs for months without having to reboot. ...

Re: Amazing
I am using the web client on a Windows machine to build the array on my Ubuntu server. The Ubuntu server is another physical machine. The mistake I made was launching the flexRAID web server through Putty on the Windows machine. I later configured it to run at startup by following your guide. I stil...

Re: Accessing Samba from Windows 7
This is very likely a permissions problem as Ian indicates. I created a username on my Ubuntu Server for each user on my home network. My fiancé has read privileges because I don’t want iTunes modifying the music library. I have read/write privileges. The problems I used to have with shares coming a...

Re: Amazing
I was rebuilding my flexRAID array yesterday and several hours into it the Windows machine went to sleep. That machine was running the flexRAID web server via Putty. Now I get to start over. I have been thinking about your setup and how you do not have your backups as part of the flexRAID. I like th...

Re: flexRAID unable to backup metadata file
This appears to have been a permission problem. My FlexRaid directory was 755 and it used to work fine. Now with version 2.0 I had to change the directory to 777. Unfortunately I deleted all the parity data before I figured this out. It kept failing creating a new parity set until I changed the perm...

flexRAID unable to backup metadata file
flexRAID expired. I tried to update from version 1.4 to 2.0 but couldn't get it to work. I uninstalled flexRAID and started over. I still have my parity disk so I imported flxr.meta. Now when I try to update I get: [2011-05-30 13:37:37,112] INFO : Executing update... [2011-05-30 13:37:37,112] INFO :...
