I found the answer to my own question at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=969208
Now my VM guest is receiving IP from my router. Also for anyone else running into this issue, I had to create a new NIC in the VM manager UI. I am quite excited. This took me a weekend to figure out. Things should go smoothly now.

I love using the Static DHCP and to control my computers and servers and other hardware using that router. However all my attempts to try to have my routers DHCP being passed over to the VM guest...
